Compassion

New from my Talisman Pendant collection. This beautiful piece carries a wind swept and velvety stone from a beach in northern California in a softly muted ivory color. Next to it rests a limey green peridot which lends the energies of compassion, harmony and peacefulness. Invite some rest, renewal and healing into your life with this one of a kind talisman pendant.

Well made from cast and constructed components in 100% sterling silver, this piece has been lovingly created in my Nelson BC studio. Available in my online shop.

Up and running in June

My new home studio is finally set up to the point of being quite functional and with great natural lighting and tall ceilings is very pleasant to work in! It always takes a bit of time when in a new space to get a feel for the flow of the room so the layout is settling into itself. I always have so many projects on the go and ideas percolating that it can get kind of busy in here, I’m working towards having a very calming and minimal environment to create in. I’m planning on being here for a while and am very much looking forward to getting into a good groove and creating some unique works from here. Studio tour/photos to follow soon!

The first collection off the bench as I get my hammers swinging once again are a few pairs of dangle style earrings with a post and butterfly backing. I just LOVE this style of earring! These are all kinds of mix matched but have my always underlying theme of a modern silhouette with a primitive or tribal styling. I’m in the process of unpacking and rediscovering a lot of different tools that were in storage for a couple of years and am having so much fun using them again! I really feel like the handmade stamps and dies allow me to apply a signature esthetic or motif across my work and really helps to unify it.

Some new one of a kind earrings that went into the online shop recently.

Moving back to Canada

This year I moved back home to British Columbia, Canada. I feel like I’ve really arrived here now, finally, and am digging my toes into the dark moist green earthy coldness of it all. I forgot how cold winters are! After getting over my previously sunshine spoiled self, I’m finding that I really actually like the cold. I really like weather! I can feel the big inhale and exhale of the seasons and like my mind and body get to participate in these beautiful yearly expansions and contractions. Perhaps it feels like I finally have permission to turn off occasionally, where as in the non-stop sunshine it’s go time all the time.

I absolutely relished the turning inward of autumn this year, and the deep quiet depths of winter in which I was reminded that we don’t always have to be blossoming. I’m being reborn this spring, and I’m overjoyed seeing the buds and leaves unfurl themselves as I inwardly go through the same movements. My creativity is coming back, my ability to concentrate and focus for extended periods is back and I’m reminded of the absolute excitement and pure JOY that creating jewelry gives me. I will be posting updates and musings from here as I develop this space, it feels like the beginning of the next chapter and I’m looking forward to sharing this journey with you in a little more of an intimate way. Thank you for being here, I appreciate you.
